Frequently Asked Pressure Washing Questions - Answered By Power Clean Pressure Wash

Soft washing is the same thing as pressure washing, but with water pressure that's far lower than the levels we typically use for pressure washing. Most soft washing jobs utilize water pressure under 1000 PSI, as well as using a nozzle that fans the spray out a bit more so the water isn't all concentrated on one tiny spot. This allows for the full, even coverage of the cleaning area, making it great for when we need to saturate an area with detergent.

The primary use for soft washing, however, is cleaning the more delicate areas of your home's exteriors. While pressure washing is ideal for cleaning concrete and other thick, sturdy surfaces, it can damage more fragile areas like shingled roofs or painted wood. Soft washing is great for cleaning those spots, as there's still enough force to cut through grime without hurting the delicate surfaces underneath!

If you've got black stains on your roof, more than likely you're dealing with a certain obnoxious microorganism- black algae. While it's actually a blue-green color on its own, this algae appears black as it dries and hardens on your home's exterior surfaces. This algae particularly thrives on roofs as the open access to sunlight and ample moisture from rain create a prime growth environment.

While this algae isn't dangerous to people or pets, it's not so good for your roof. Black algae eats up calcium carbonate, and the shingles on your roof contain limestone particles, which have lots of that. The algae gobbles it up, weakening the shingles and limiting their ability to reflect sunlight. The roof then absorbs heat rather than reflecting it, drying up the shingles and causing your home to expend more energy to regulate its internal temperature!

Luckily, though, the solution is simple. Our roof cleaning gently yet thoroughly kills off the algae and completely rinses them off of your shingles, keeping your roof healthy! If you've got black streaky algae stains on your roof, contact us today!

When you've got old, set-in stains you're trying to get rid of, pressure washing is the most reliable method for the best results. With the combined forces of high pressure, cleaning detergents, and in the case of power washing, heat, this cleaning breaks up the bonds between the staining substance and the surface we're cleaning and flushes out the loosened particles.

Nearly all stains can be significantly reduced or even eliminated with our top-quality pressure washing. If you're wondering if our services can help you, we'd be glad to check out your property and give you a free quote!
